i have been preparing an area of 20 sq m or so to extend the lawn of a client s garden, the existing lawn is not perfect, but should be ok if i seed and top dress with the same seed as the new area.
i had dug over the new area and ordered a cub m of topsoil to topdress the old lawn and put a skim over the existing soil which is very stony.
after doing this with barrow, spade and rake, i was trying to level it with a batten as one does with concrete, but not too successful, and sore on the knees.
i looked in to hut and there was the answer ..... a metal "doormat"[footscraper], you know the kind, in fact they look just like one of these fancy levellers which cost £50 each
i got an old brush, and wired it on to the door mat .. et voila a perfectly flexible friend!
