I bought some dwarf french bean plants yesterday to grow in pots.

Just wondering, can I use my home made compost directly in the pots. I'm guessing not, so have mixed it with about 50% leaf mould too.

Is there anything else I should add before using to pot on the young plants?

    thanks for any advice

I mix a third compost, retail peat free and sharp sand.

    Thankyou for your reply.
I mixed in slightly less sharp sand, and hope for the best!

Does that mix do for most general purpose potting needs?
