Can anyone tell me that when gardening programmes are on and people talk about Melianthus Major not flowering in this country, do they actually find out if it's true, because I have one and it flowers very well in the spring, I live in the North West (Cheshire).

Hi T.Oasis.Depending on what channels you have got,Garden programmes are on the T.V most of the time.Melianthus Major(Honey Bush) all I know is that it needs a winter temperature of no lower
Than 40f-45f/4-7centigrade.I know that we have
many gardeners on site that will give you some more information on this particular topic.Good luck

Hi Tropical Oasis, I dont know about gardening programmes but I've grown Melianthus Major for a number of years and its only flowered once for me.
I think it was during a mild winter in the early nineties, most years mine get damaged, not completely frosted to the ground but badly enough to make me cut it down and allow new growth to take over.
Where do you grow yours is it in an area thats virtually frost free?
