I have recently moved house and pretty much the only success I had at the old place was a honeysuckle from eBay. I decided I wasn't abandoning it so I dug it up and took it with me - I've stuck it in a pot and am asking it nicely to grow up my drainpipe.

Suddenly it came to me that perhaps honeysuckle doesn't like being in a pot - I can't plant it directly into the ground because in their wisdom the people that built my house laid concrete slabs all round it.

Do you think it'll be ok?

sould be fine. keep it well watered and give it some support. A good mulch will help keep it moist. Only prune it if it is a vine or climbing ginus after flowering.

I'm on the west coast of Scotland and , same as you, have had to plant in containers. My honeysuckle was growing really nicely until it started to suffer from powdery mildew. I think this is caused by lack of watering so Nicsdad is absolutely right -plenty of water and mulching (I started to use seaweed from the beach, I think the iodine may help))and you should be fine. Unfortunately am having to go out today to buy replacement climbers as I went on holiday at the start of our recent heatwave here , and stupidly didn't arrange for anyone to water the honesuckle.

    Thank you thank you!

Taking up slabs is scary man's work, and I'm a big chicken. North is Morayshire, so not quite the arctic circle yet.

I shall persevere with the watering and consider some structural wallterations!
