[I'm very new to bonsai and am looking for all the help I can get. I have to-day planted a group of five horse chestnuts ( I bought them because of the interesting roots). I trimmed the root ball very little as I want to leave that until about April next year. Have I done the right thing?

JL, 25 years thats fantastic. I was bought one 2 years ago and Ive killed it already. It was a M&S special. I think it got root fly, and as much as I tried I just couldn't bring it back. Whenever i go to a flower show I love to see them on show, they r'e just so cute. 02

:thumb: Hi Suzie & Justin, you might like to have a look at this site, it is pretty informative..

I have a Beech tree Bonsia which is in actual fact pretty old, can't remember at the moment how old, but is on it's way to 20 I think.....!! Sorry:rolleyes: Don't have many pics it would seem. This was it in the very early spring before it got going. It's leaves get smaller every year...
