Maybe...but what about the soil? All the micro-organisms living there would be killed stone dead i.e. soil no longer fertile.

Battery acid is harder to get these days now most of us have sealed batteries in the cars.
The vinegar may well affect the coating on the horsetail. you could also try adding a few drops of washing up liquid to the weedkiller as this will improve the wetting ability.

Good idea :blue thumb: but don't let the EU know :nonofinger:. You will have changed the chemical composition of the killer and that's not licenced! :heehee: So it's not approved and therefore illegal.

Anything used as a weedkiller comes under the general heading of 'Pesticides' and, therefore, under the UK Health and Safety Chemical Regulation Directorate (CRD). Vinegar mixed with detergent has not been authorised therefore is not permitted under the regulations.

What a load of old cobblers!!! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Of course, if you were using the mixture to 'feed' the horsetail it would not come under CRD. ;)

                          That's funny shiney!
                          :snork:

We used to live next door to a garden filled with mares tail, but while we had a big privet hedge it never came over. Took the hedge out and it spread like wildfire!
Was thinking it might be useful to someone who might want to prevent re infestation of their garden?

....and now how horsetail can be used!

For stains on metal (not silver or anything valuable) you really can't beat horsetail (Equisetum arvense).

It's full of silica and was used traditionally to scour pans to a high shine and as a fine ‘sand paper’ for polishing wood. After gathering it leave it in the sun for an hour or so before tying together and using. Wear gloves when scouring because the silica can make the horsetail sharp.

Just a bit of info,I have marestail in my veg plot so this year grew no veg, but used a weedkiller that is advertised as effective on marestail, sprayed as directed repeated as required and this week dug the plot over to let the weather break down the soil over winter and low and behold yard upon yard of marestail root all alive and spreading, and this product was used with a wetting agent purchased for the use with the weedkiller, so what do I do next??
