Another gardening newbie question, so please be gentle.

The only cold water outlet I have is the kitchen sink with its monobloc twin mixer tap, outlet about 23mm dia, just like this:

[IMG] (Edit: oops! the Forum says I can't yet link to images)

Can anyone please recommend a hose at least 11m long with suitable connector, or tell me what connector I should be looking for when shopping for a hose?

Or is it true that garden hoses should/must not be connected to domestic drinking water sources?

Thanks. The "Nabis Idro swan neck kitchen tap" looks pretty much identical to mine. I can't remove the aerator even with a wrench or the rubber band method.
Is the HOZELOCK - Indoor Mixer Tap Connector (Amazon) what you mean?

If you own your house, it is fairly simple to have an outside tap installed. You might even do it yourself. Suitable taps have a non return valve fitted internally.*
If your water is metered, you can have a secondary meter** installed so that you may record consumption through that outside tap , enabling you to reclaim some part of your water bill sewerage charge. Especially worthwhile if you use it a lot for uses that do not involve returning water to the sewer, such as gardening, ponds etc.
Refer to your water supplier to confirm their requirements before you instruct a plumber.

Thanks. It certainly looks like this may be case. Under the sink both hot and cold supplies are joined to the tap with 12mm dia flexi connections similar to those in your link.

Just to add whats already been mentioned you can buy a complete Garden tap kit for attaching to a 15mm copper cold water pipe using the self piercing tap which is then passed though the wall, no soldering needed, just spanners etc.

Never tried self cutting taps, wonder how reliable they are.

@ricky101 it's interesting that it says not suitable with pressure washers.

I read somewhere that they can reduce flow.

Its not the outdoor tap that there could be problems with its the self cutting tap that fixes to your existing pipework that is in the specific kit in the link that @ricky101 put up.

I think I understand that but not sure

It sounds as though the reduced flow is to the 'new' outside tap. If that is so then it shouldn't affect the pressure washer as the washer doesn't need a strong flow - but it would affect the flow of the hosepipe, and a sprinkler, for watering.

If it reduces the flow to the outside tap would it cause extra pressure on the new joint?
