    Hi!

I grow a lot of different varieties of hostas some in the garden soil, but mainly in tubs and pots without any problems.
The tubs and pots are left out overwinter!

Two years ago I bought a couple each of ones called "Fire Island" and "White Feather" and as one is yellow leaved and the other white, they are more delicate than the normal sorts and more expensive to boot!

They are rather slow growing so did not bulk up much, but this year I managed to get four extra plants (two of each) and potted them up in the usual mixtue that the parents are growing in!

They started to grow and produced more leaves and stems, then they rotted off at the neck, one after the other!
I had done them and the parent plants with a fungicide just in case, but it did not work!

I checked on the net and sure enough there are some sites (American) and they have this problem with these two, but no solutions are offered!
One poster actually said he had given up trying to grow them!

Any one out have any experience of them or advice, it would be greately appreciated.
The parent plants appear to be fine at the moment, but not bulking up at all!

    Cheers!

I'd love to be able to grow hostas, in my garden they are slug magnets and just get chomped.

Sorry I can't offer any advice, I'm sure someone will be along to help.
