    Good value.

Keep it in the pot (or perhaps transplant it into a more attractive one if you want) - a bit of grease (vaseline) around the rim should keep the slugs away from it. You could also try raising it off the ground using pot feet as an extra precaution.

Situate the pot somewhere shady and enjoy. I have loads of Hostas, all in colourful pots outside the back door that only gets sun in late afternoon in summer.

    Nice looking hosta Capney.
I've always grown hostas and find them easy and fuss free.
You can grow it in a pot or plant it in the ground. They seem to be perfectly hardy.
They don't like to be in full sun so somewhere with a bit of shade is best.
As you say slugs do like them, so a few slug pellets or whatever precaution you prefer is required.
The leaves are lovely and they put up big flower spikes.
    Enjoy.

All my hostas happen to be in the ground. Not too many slugs around here. If your keeping it in a pot, up high, slugs do move very slow, hard for them to leap tall buildings at a single bound. As I don't pot them, guess the vaseline trick sounds logical. The tried and true method for the ground is BEER, yep the drinking kind. Some beer poured in a shallow saucer left on the ground, the slugs are drawn to it, go in the sauce and drown. The next morning, you have slug beer yuck to throw out. Then repeat as necessary.
I just saw a pretty one the other day, should have bought it. It was blue with good yellow in the center and in the joining color area a third color came up, was so pretty.
If it haunts me this week I'll go back and get it. Have so many as it is. But one more, what the heck.
