Hi all, I'm beginning to get a bit suspicious. Should my hosta's be making an appearance by now? No sign yet!

Some have a bit of protrusion above ground, but others still seem in the land of nod! Must have another look as has been about a week since I last checked them all. They have been so reliable I just wait..... lol

Some of mine are showing in the sunnier borders, those in the shade are still hiding.

Cant you find an alternative like sand, ash, pebbles, garlic spray..think of the hedgehogs that have to eat the slugs and the birds feeding them to their young x

I have one hosta that is well through but my other two have yet to put in an appearance and they're in the same bed, no doubt they will pop up soon :)

I have two hostas. One is showing signs of life, the other isn't (yet). I'm not worried.
I've also de-slugged. (No hedgehogs in my tiny walled garden, though).

I would say easy, I have over 300 hostas on my property. Only a few are showing now, about an inch up. Not worried, as depends on the variety of when they appear.

Like many others of you, some of mine are through and some aren't. Due to our (for
us North of The Border) very mild winter I didn't have the usual visits from a bunch (can't call 3 a herd) of extremely damaging deer. However I discovered 2 days ago to my horror that a good 1/2 dozen Hostas which were well through have been munched to the ground. No way could slugs be the culprit unless they are gigantic and have acquired feet as there were tell tale fairy foot steps near The Hostas. Deer have never eaten my Hostas before, perhaps they thought I'd missed them and decided to pay me and my Supermarket (garden) for old times sake...wish they flaming hadn't bothered!
