Does anyone have any hosta's at the moment that they have split and dont know what to do with ?

Received an email this morning on freecycle with someone else also looking for them, so said we would split whatever we manage to find, although no one as yet has offered him any :(

Would happily pay P & P and extra if required :)

Please let me know if anyone has any they would like to donate :) :)

Pity you weren't closer to me. You would be welcome to come and take as much as you wanted. They really need splitting but I have so much else to do it's just not going to happen.

If you are around Sheffield or Barnsley and want some- you are very welcome

Some plain green and some variegated

    Typically late then :(

Yeah the ones I have in the garden are all in full leaf now too, so did think it was a little late but then read on here that people were still splitting them end of may last year so thought I would ask - thanks anyway :)

I know you don't want to have to spend MORE money, but a lot of GCs sell Hostas quite cheaply as smaller plants - £3.00 or less. To get a good display this year, stick several in a pot - you can always divide them next year. I think Homebase are still selling "Cottage Garden Plants" for £1.49 each and Hostas are included.

Ahhh now the ones I had seen where at B & Q and they were £6 each for small ones. The ones at the garden centre was about £8 i think, so I was thinking if I have to buy another 4 ......

Will try homebase and see if they have any, although our store isnt that big here.

    Thanks :) again lol !

Had a look on Homebase's website but they do say £6.49 each on there. Shame Newbridge Nurseries are so far away !

Have checked Wyevale's website but they are not listed on there as the only two garden centres we have in Rugby are both Wyevale!!

Will try homebase though and see if its any different in store.

    Hello Sam,

I am very new to this site so hadn't seen you request before now. I have plenty of plain green Hostas, I'd call them medium sized ie not small but not as big leafed as say Sieboldiana (spelling could be iffy!) I live in Scotland which isn't exactly handy for you but would be quite happy now or in the Spring to dig you up some big chunks (hope you like tech term!) All I'd ask would be for obviously the postage (I'd send them bare rooted, done before and hostas were fine) so postage wouldn't be too much and maybe a small contribution to a hedgehog santuary which is down the road from me. Let me know if that is any good to you. Regards Sue.
