    Hi PCMedic

I have just been playing a CD, listening with earphones, while working on my pc. When music was finished, ejected CD and find that the disc was very warm - almost hot - when I lifted it out. Is this normal?

    Thanks

    Hi jjordie

That can be normal, for several reasons which would depend on the design of your PC. If your CD drive is near your power supply then that can get hot and make your CD hot. If the ventilation and fans are not efficient then they might not cool your cd drive down sufficiently

If the disk is not perfectly symetrical then as it spins is also vibrates slightly and as they spin at a high rate that alone can make them warm.

Has it always been like that or only changed recently?

    Thanks for reply Arun.
Haven't noticed it hot before at all, maybe just warm sometimes. I do play CDs quite often when I am on pc.

Is it a new CD, do you notice more vibration with that particular CD?

Arun, Tried another CD yesterday evening and the result was the same.
Am obviously going to have my local man come and look at it as I am not skillful enough to take it apart - I might not get it together again  but thanks for your info

Why don't you put your tracks on WMP and then you won't have to use your cd player!

Thanks MMD but no problem now :D

I had a very nice man come and replace the fan which was faulty and apart from it being cooler it is also much quieter.

    £20 well spent!
