Just had an accident with a pot of houseleeks. They've fallen out of the pot. I've re-potted them although some have hardly any roots.
Should I keep them in the porch with a heated mat underneath to encourage them to take root?
They're very large rosettes of leaves and I'd really like to keep them going if I could.

    Many thanks. GF.

They should not need any heat. Just make sure the base of the rosette stays in contact with the soil and do not over water. They root very quickly with no bother at all.

I've put quite a thick layer of grit on the top, will they root into that? They're planted in a very free draining mix of compost and grit.

    Thanks. GF.

They often will root just lying on the concrete where the blackbirds have tossed them! So, yes they will root though grit, probably better for them than sitting on wet soil too.
