    Hi all

My house martin nest fell down today , with all this wet weather they had only just finished it so I saw it pass the window and checked for eggs but coudnt find any , this has happened 3 years on the trot 1st year because it was so hot !!!!.
When I was at Wisley last week they had in the wildlife section ones made out of concrete , but mine is a gable end and they only had the normal ones that go under the eaves , any one know of a supplier that does the gable end version as I cant let it happen again .

Any help appreciated not over keen going up the ladder though

Can't help you there Spruce but it's the last thing we want to happen as they have had so much trouble this year as the dry Spring deprived them of the much needed mud. I hope you find a solution.

What a shame Spruce. From your post I can't work out if the housemartins made the nest themselves or it was something you put up yourself.
I would leave the birds to it.
If you want to help them leave out some water or a little mud pile. They know how to make their own nests.

If you can, put the nest and babies/ eggs back. Its ok to touch it. Have a bird rescue friend who has corrected that for me.

    Hi Alice

The housemartins made it , I live in a new house ony 4/5 years old used to be a manor house which the birds nested on for years the lady down the Lane told me , but they pulled it down to build these.
But most of the nest they build under the eaves drop off every year at all stages , which is not very pleasant.

Maybe I should leave out small bricks with cement :heehee::heehee:

I will email that BBC wildlife programme see if they know who I can ask

    Thanks again

    Spruce
