I've asked a lot of questions in here and had a lot of help with my windswept exposed garden at 1000ft up a Scottish moor - but next week (I think!) we are moving!
I never thought I'd leave this house unless in a box, but things change. Husband had a triple bypass and isn't as fit and strong as he was before it and I'm getting arthritis plus ME & Addisons Disease... so things are getting harder. We're too isolated and need be closer to the family so we applied for a move and got offered a house
I'm moving 800ft lower down and the garden has espaliered apple trees in it! Two, one with green apples and one with huge pink ones. The whole village is full of gorgeous gardens and flowers and shrubs, and I'm looking fwd to next spring when I can get out and digdigdig:spinning:
    PREPARE FOR QUESTIONS

I had a lot of help & advice re my garden at 1000ft in an exposed moor in Scotland over the last year or two, and now I've moved so have a whole new set of problems and will have to start asking again
Last house was north/south facing, very windswept and open. This place is east/west facing with the west facing part at the front, which is gravelled space for our car. I will have a line of pots there in summer, so that side is sorted. The actual garden bit ifaces due east and is enclosed on all sides. Somebody has obviously taken care of it, as it has 2 espaliered apple trees against a 6ft fence. The whole of that fence is covered by wire, in squares, for support but I can't see at this time of year if there are any plants still in there. The middle section is pure weed and moss, an eyesore. There is a lot of moss - does that mean it's badly drained? I will get husband to take a pic tomorrow. I just don't know where to start or what to do, it;s so different from the garden I had for over 30 years.

I have merged the two threads together @fumanchu to hopefully make things easier to find.

What area are you moving to? I wish you all the happiness in the world in your new home.

We're in a wee tiny village near Jedburgh, and I just found out from the neighbours that this ground was once an orchard, that explains why every single garden here has apple trees. Husband is taking a pic today.
