This is an easy one, as john said, any way you want, use shears if its overgrown, just one thing, if you cut right back into the brown wood, it looks unsightly, but it WILL grow again...Dee..

I've been trying to kill mine for years and it just keeps growing and growing.
I've cut it ,sawn it ,put weed killer on it.
    It still grows.
Cut away you can't harm it.
    I've tried. :D

Hello matt I would use shears or hedge stimmer to cut it back,Make sure you where long sleeves to protect your arms as ivy can be very irritable on skin.

GlenW, I take it the speed camera is to keep the Ivy in check as it grows so fast :)

Matt I used to take a sharp knife to do mine and then uncling it from the walls with a good old pull while using a wallpaper spatula to get rid of those unsightly cling on remains and as long as the wall is sound it comes away quite easy but as already said it grows back with vengeance.
It really is quite amazing how quick it grows back we use to have to 'do' ours twice a year just to keep it in check but it does look nice in winter though.Hel.xxx.

Slinky, now you tell me to wear long sleeves. I have been out there attacking the ivy as best I can and had to come in for a shower felt as though everything that had ever cralled into it had crawled out and over me. :mad:Still its covering a large length of brick wall so it will take a while to clear. Bit worried because I do know the robins nested in it last year.:)
