My sisters cat got it and she brought the bird with her when she came to stay.

I went MAD! she is so kind hearted, and fed it all the time, but a wild bird like this has to be left alone or you only prolong its demise - sadly this happened last night, but to me only what I expected - very sad.

My (other) sister and I (both live in NE) rush our little foundlings over to a sanctuary near Newcastle airport. The people who run it - an ex-vet nurse and a retired policeman - get excellent results looking after such as these. Our last mercy dash was last year with a little blue tit which eventually fledged and was released.

Must say, though, I had a good belly laugh when I saw the photo! [IMG]

My sister is a nurse and we have both brough back to life rare breed poultry chicks which you would never have thought would survive, so little chap was in expert hands and she actually sat up with him all night - have to say more than I would have done!

    Stil very sad thoug.

where you have live stock you have dead stock - thats life.

    Awww poor birdie :(

At a rescue where I used to work, the owner found a baby robin and fed him as often as was required, even taking him out in the work's truck with her so she could stop and feed him whenever he needed it! I dont know what happened to the bird but at least he had a loving human mum for a while [IMG]

My own feeling is that you are better to let nature take its course - sometimes the mums come back for them, but they are reluctant if they have been handeled by humans.
