How did your veggies grow this year?

We have not had a very successful year.

Cabbages eaten by caterpillars. Very few Runner beans.
Beetroot have hardly grown at all which was most diappointing as I bought some
    'special' seeds from www.realseeds.co.uk .
and the tomato seeds from there didn't grow very well. We got tall leggy plants but very few flowers so obviously no tomatoes.
About the only thing we had this year was a reasonable crop of onions.

Oh well, roll on next spring and let's try again!

Anyone have good crops this year?

Beetroot didn't grow well (unusual for us) carrots were were sketchy but once they grew they were ok. Leeks were good. Peas were good. Chinese cabbage got eaten, rocket germinated then died off. Tomatoes much better than last year. Chillies fine.

    Rotten year!
ALL brassicas had a MAJOR dose of club root which has been really disappointing as I'd very carefully planned successional crops and carefully limed the plot.
Beetroot (apart from very early sown ones) have been tiny. Outdoor cherry tomatos have been hit with blight for the first time in 20+ years. Plum tree didn't produce. Most of the butternut squash rotted. Greenhouse toms and cucs were hit by whitefly. Peach and blueberry crop much reduced on last year

    The not so bad -
Super crop of strawberries. Early spuds grown in the 2nd year compost heap produced a bumper crop. Chard, peas, broad beans and climbing french beans have cropped well as have carrots. Toms, cucs and peppers in our small polytunnel are doing very well as have early sown carrots. Leeks are looking good with no sign of the rust that I got last year.

Not only us that didn't do too well this year then?

Just remembered we did have a good lot of broadbeans as Jack usually
sows some late autumn for next year - in fact we seem to get better crops from
that sowing than some that are planted in Spring.

My tomatos are just the same, We have some green ones coming but very slow even considering how late they were sown. I think next year I will keep them indoors longer, early grown outside this is the second disappointing year.

Runner beans have gone mad with all the rain.
    Beetroots did really well.
Tomatoes are now ripening and very sweet.
Strawberries are still flowering and the ones we've had have been a good size.
    Spring onions - still gowing
Lettuce has gone mad, and of my 3 cabbage 2 were eaten by slugs, snails, catterpillars or something and one was saved and was quite nice (I don't really like cabbage)
Corn - wasn't ready yesterday so will check it again today
The Swiss chard bolted eventually (I only grew it to help protect some of the other veg as it gets tall, but did use some of it in stews)
    Carrots did well.
Spinach is still going strong - I keep cutting it and it keeps growing, it's not bolted yet.
My courgettes were a complete flop, only got 4 courgettes that were edible, they were battered by strong winds just as they were starting to flower, but the 4 I managed to get were nice, just a pity the other 3 plants produced nothing really (tiny tiny courgettes that didn't grow more than 2" long)
It's the first year I've grown veg so I think I did pretty well :) Probably as I didn't really know what I was doing so if anything produced any veg I was pleased.

My carrots and spring onions were ok. Toms are eventually turning red.

My parsnips, peppers, aubergines, pumpkins didn't grow and my beetroots apart from one aren't good but somethings taken a big bite out of it.

    My potatoes are growing well

This is the first year for growing stuff but it's been mixed (compared with what my smug parents tell me they've grown):

    Greenhouse -
chillies done great but peppers have all been eaten,
    cucumbers an utter disaster
tomatoes a success, can't eat them all
Aubergines only just starting to flower so probably not going to get any viable ones
physalis - got loads of fruit but all were very tart and not like the shop ones

    Outside
    Raspberries - hardly any
Runner beans - hardly any - disappointing as lots of flowers
    Potatoes (in pots) - mixed
Carrots (in pots) - disaster - they all rotted as not enough drainage
    Tomatoes - good
Strawberries - lovely - when I can beat the slugs to them
Courgettes - started well but have all gone rotten by the time they are 2" long
Salad stuff - all got eaten, and not by humans

I've been very lucky this year! Great crop of tomatoes...different varieties, too.
Grew beans for the first time, really lucky with those....will be able to harvest the sweetcorn, too.
Just a few carrots, courgettes, but at least there were some!

Lettuce latest the duration. now finished
Strawberries poor. due to bad management
Leeks are looking good and healthy but not over large
Red onions ended up small but usuable
Carrots. some still in ground. Wide but short in length
Parsnips. look like the best so far. time will tell.
    Radish, three seeding total failure
Tomatos, great until blight got them.
Runner beans struggling. will not have many to freeze
    Beetroot are also struggling.

French beans a little disappointing over last years.
Early, second early and main crop spuds all very good, NO blight.
    Runners beans fantastic, as ever.
Peas good, especially the sowing I am picking at the moment.
Tomatoes, very good after what I thought was a very slow start. Sweet Millenium produced almost nothing on the first two trusses of each plant, but now very heavy crop. Similar with the Moneymaker.
Onions and shallots a little on the small side
Broad Beans not good at all, very light crop
    Strawberries very good
    Lettuce very good
Turnip will hopefully recover from catapillars
    Spinach Beet looking good
Walnut tree has one walnut after squirrels nicked the rest:confused:

Edit: I see I'm a senior member, I take it that's to do with my age rather than gardening expertise:):):):)

Potatoes, peas, turnip, radish, red cabbage, tomatoes, strawberries, courgette and pumpkin have all done well.

Onions and leeks i'll have to wait and see.

Lettuce, carrots, peppers, broccoli, aubergine have all been terrible.

The good one may just be my low expectations though as this is my first year.

I'm not sure if it's because there wasn't much sun but I haven't had a great year for my veggies :(

I managed to get a fair few helpings of runner beans from my dozen plants real tasty they were, the rocket was good and as I left it in the pots it has self seeded so hope to get some more, the late planted dwarf runners are now in flower those that the snails didn't get.I have packed away my hose pipe and shall shortly have a good clear up but weather is not nice bit chilly so will have to wait .Did order some bulbs for next year the catalogues are so inviting!
