I dont know if I have spelt it correctly but I have just bought a 2ft one that came with just the stump and no roots or info on how to plant it.
How far do you plant the stump up to and in what. A pot or ground ? As it is frosty would you wait or try and thaw the soil with warm water.Do you use compost or soil and as it has no roots wont it fall over.

Jean I would stick it in a pot of good compost bury about a third of it to stop it falling over and keep it out of the frost, eventually it will develope a quite extensive root system contrary to popular belief, growing it in a pot gives you the luxury to find the best place in the garden and you can always move it inside in severe weather, they are slow growing b/man is the expert i'm sure he can add to this.

Jean let me know how you get on I'm hoping to get a couple after spring and would love to know if you struggle with the plant being a first-timer and all,I'll pray that you sail through the winter with no problems at all and are rewarded with a lovely show this coming summer. ;)
