I have planted an oak sapling about 8 metres away from our garage. My dad is now saying that it might cause problems. Should we move it???

As far as I am aware oak trees are okay that far away because their roots strive downwards quite some way and then outwards-at least I hope so I have two that about that far away from my house-and the guys behind us got planning permission to put a house approx 5ft away from these two mature oak trees.

    8 metres should be fine.

5 feet might be a bit close... especially it you're on a clay soil!
