When Some People Can't Win An Argument, They Resort To Personal Attacks Against Their "Opponent"We should just stick to the subject of the debate at hand, and if we can't win, maybe we can learn from our opponent's superior viewpoint. Or maybe we should just shut ....... up.

I have in the past upset someone not intentionally I hasten to add and was so mortify when it was blown out of all proportion to say I was slaughtered on these forums was an understatement all I can say is that the smilies are there for all of us to use and as long as it's not crude I don't see a problem.

People must remember that there is the Personal Message system as well so it's far better to approach a person you have a problem with than be very public with your outcry.

I'm all for good clean fun with a little cheeky batter thrown after all isn't that what forums are for making friends and 'meeting' people with the same interests as yourself.

I know I'm cheeky but I hope I am never crude (something I hate) sometimes I think some topics go slightly overboard with crudeness and we all must remember that sometimes there might be younger people not so worldly-wise looking through our forums after all gardening is for all ages.

    That's my piece said I do hope I haven't upset anyone.:o:eek: Hel.xxx.

    Hello Helen,

I couldn`t agree more. Perhaps one lesson to learn from all of this trouble, is acceptance of others opinions.

On going self examination is a difficult process, one might or, as is more likely, will probably, learn that one is more often wrong than right.

    Hi again,

This is a bit of a request aswell as hoping to start a constructive appraisal of the site.

Going slightly off on a tangent here, but it might be advisable to have a look at reviewing the posting of certain pics.

I have spotted a couple of pics which have been very specific as to where they are, I`ve seen a google pic that had the location on the bottom right, maybe a recommendation sent out about how to blur things like that would be a good idea. License plates, house numbers. People on here are very open and it only takes a bit of reading to collect quite a bit of info. Although everyone signed up here seems to be "marbles intact", we can`t be too sure about lurkers.

Hi Little Miss, it just occurred to me when my son asked how do I know that someone next door won`t see the garden and if I were to have posted inadvertently something like, why does my padlock not work, or posted that I had expensive plants in the greenhouse then well I would have asked for it I think.

But it can get much worse than that. I was once affiliated with a quit smoking forum and clear threats were made to a member there. This forum positively encourages pics-something that should carry on of course, but inadvertently identifying stuff is usually on there too.

Pro realised and had the thread removed-things are getting a tad unsettling at the moment, and "checking you`ve locked your doors" seems wise just now.
