    I had my samsung phone for several years. It packed up on 1st week of hols and upon my return I figured I should secure a new one. Cue tantrums at phone company after finally finding a phone I want...

    I now have an HTC One, released in March to great fanfare and applause it does in most opinions knock the stuffing from samsungs and iphones. Big whoop. I can't use the damn thing!

    I used to be able to pick up a new piece of kit and instinctively know how to use it, in a manly type fashion. So manly is this phone, it doesn't even ship with a manual! I'm slowly learning how it works but I'm burning up hours on forums just to figure out how to make it not vibrate.

      I hate having to buy a new phone simply because it takes me ages to work out how to use it.

      I like a phone to be a phone. All I want is to be able to make a phone call and send a text now and again. I don't care about and can't be bothered with the new fancy features on the latest phones. I actually can't stand mobile phones. They are just a tracking device to me and once you've got one, you get no peace unless of course you turn the damned thing off or set it to "silent" which I do all the time!! :snork:

        It is a pain that there aren't any manuals anymore. But the HTC One is a nice phone. I've always had iPhones since they were first released, but I'd assume there must be a settings icon that would contain all the vibration settings etc? What I usually do is go into every menu and just see what's there :)

        I really hate having to get a new phone. It takes me ages to learn how to use the damn thing and then it only rings when I have both hands full or I am on the loo! How does it know??? :heehee:

          I agree with everything Fern4 said. These are not so much phones as mini hand held computers, everywhere you see people walking around staring at little squares of plastic!!:dunno:
          I already have a computer why would I want another? My phone is a basic flip lid with numbers on it, press numbers and you make a call!!!!:heehee: Crazy World where everyone is driving themselves insane trying to use these things.

              I have a Samsung Galaxy, love it, I also had a basic phone for calls and texts, then I decided to upgrade, it is like a mini computer, it does so much more and after a slow start, I use it for so many things in conjunction with my computer, they can compliment each other.

                Oh this phone does it all and more, it really is an impressive item although I hesitate at calling it a phone as it clearly is so much more. I hated the idea of smartphones but now it with email and the PC etc. Wonderful things. Bit complicated lol

                Much like me... except once you've gone into the phone settings and switched off all vibrate settings you begin to wonder 'did I miss something?' and go back... nope. It turns out there are levels of complexity in these new things that are staggering. Anyway, in case anyone else needs to know - you also have settings in the app itself so I've had to switch it off in messaging, email, alarm clock and anything else that notifies you. Think I've figured out why kids are so socially awkward - they're not checking messages on facebook, they're messing with the settings lol

                Cans and string anyone?

                  Haha, they can be complex but great once you get used to them. I do everything on my iPhone, even banking!

                  I received a replacement for my HTC One X yesterday, in the shape of a Samsung Galaxy S3. I was more than happy with the HTC until it stopped working, and to be honest I was quite reluctant to have the Samsung as a replacement, but my choices were that or now't basically. I have had it less than a day so far, and the Samsung has already proved itself to be a better phone in some areas (speed, signal reception etc); I'd say that the HTC is slightly more solid feeling, but apparently they are no more well built than anything else in reality.

                  So far, I would say the Samsung has the edge.

                    I used to agree that a phone is just a phone. Then I got used to having a camera, and nowadays my slightly aged HTC Desire HD is:

                    * My phone
                    * My camera
                    * Occasionally the internet (both on the phone and as a wifi hotspot for the laptop)
                    * My SatNav
                    * My exercise tracking system
                    * Occasionally my music player
                    * My alarm clock
                    * and very occasionally, I play the odd game on it.
                    * Oh, and if you want to try something quite cool but entirely pointless, you can use your phone and your laptop together to make a motion sensing game system for free, using the BrassMonkey stuff. http://playbrassmonkey.com/

                    Wow!!! You've got the complicated one! :heehee: It has a flip lid. :hate-shocked:

                    Mine can make and receive calls :blue thumb:. It cost all of £2.95 and works perfectly when I need it - which is, rarely (someone said something about needing to switch it on :scratch:). :snork:
                    It's PAYG and I spent £1.80 last year.

                    Didn't take long to learn how to use it. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

                      It doesn't take me long to fathom a new phone, that's because I've stuck to a Nokia, I'm sure they still produce the simplest phones. I've had other makes in the past but have gone back to these and always buy basic. It gets very little use anyway. :)
