I put in some Maris Piper potatoes at the end of May - a little late, I know. How long do they have to be in the ground before the pots. are of an edible size? The plants are really big now and the mauve flowers are in full bloom. How can I tell when to lift my first potatoes? Is the state of the flowers any guide?

Yes the flowers are a good indication, but yours haven't been growing very long, I suggest have a careful scrape around one plant to see the size of the tubers, you can eat them at any size - see the RHS link I put in your other post for general advice.
