How Many Barbecues have you had this summer:scratch:.
Personally I have had only two,and the second one was a washout.
We abandoned the garden due to heavy rain and finished up in the garage.
When I say we,I was left at the barbecue holding a large golf brolly trying to cook in heavy rain while the rest of the gang sat in the garage getting Inebriated:ccheers:. I think I must Have Had Joe Tattooed on my Forehead..

My bbq is just inside the garage so I use it quite a bit even during the winter. We don't eat outside very often so it's not a proper BBQ.

I haven't had one for three years, I thought about buying a new barbie, but what's the point when there's very few dry days.

2 for us. One (the weekend before last) hosted by me, my first barbie ever to feature more than half a dozen people in total. Then the weekend just gone.

Sheal, I was worried about the weather ruining my plans, so I bought a cheap but decent sized gazebo just in case. It turned out the weather was glorious, and the gazebo served its proper purpose of shading guests from the unusually intense sunshine, but I left it up for several days after the event waiting for rain so I could see how it would do. It would stand up to the rain but I took it down because it got quite windy towards the end of last week.

We've had half a dozen; but not "parties", just ourselves. It's easier to light the BBQ and cook while enjoying the sun than it is heating up the house cooking a meal. Summer wouldn't be summer for us without at least one bbq'd chicken on a beer can.

I bought a chimnea this year, which was delivered without the chimney part; the company were very good and sent out a replacement ... not just the chimney, but a whole new chimnea! Anyway, the half one (sans chimney) has been given a new home in the copse end of my garden. We road tested that by cooking up bacon butties for breakfast :heehee: See? BBQ/outdoor cooking isn't just for evenings and guests

A friend bought himself a new gas barbie last year, then refurbished his old one and gave it to me - its still sat in the shed and hasn't been used as the end of the summer last year we were moving house, and this year the weather has been too poor to justify throwing £60+ at a bottle of gas.

I did consider a chimnea earlier in the year - purely for warmth to let us sit out on the chillier nights, but not sure how much use it would get, coupled with the risks to child & dog and the fact that we live in a smokeless area.

Mine is a gas one and I had to phone around to get a decent price on the gas bottle. Finally managed to get one for less than £30. That was 3 years ago. I'm still using the same bottle.

Its the 'deposit' on the bottle that is the killer - everywhere locally seems to be about the same as well, by the time you get the bottle and then pay for a fill of gas, its a kick in the pants off £60

I got mine from Flo Gas and they didn't require a deposit. Like I said that was 3 years ago. Alternately you could try and get one from Freegle.

I'll need to have a look at Freegle then - even Flo Gas are now asking the thick end of £60 by the time they include their £30 Cylinder non-return charge.

This has been a bad year, as we have only had two. It used to a case of at least two a month throughout the year including December, January and Febuary.
I'm hosting one this weekend though for German visitors, and will be cooking the lamb for a period of six hours. The meat will just fall apart and almost melt in the mouth.
