    Morning!

I re-seeded my lawn about a week ago now and I've noticed quite a lot of new growth but that a lot of seed has also moved to the surface. I don't know if this is due to birds or rain or what but i was wondering whether i should put some more topsoil over them?

With regards to the mowing etc, I've read around a few places that say wait until the new grass is about 5cm - 7.5cm, some say 7.5cm - 10cm and some just state 2 weeks? It's all a bit confusing in all honesty.

I've attached a photo of where the lawn is at as of this morning but I was just wondering about what the next step was?

Do I mow and roll the lawn now and then leave it for a couple of weeks again or leave it longer? Do i put more topsoil over the visible seed or leave them?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like it needs a mow, but what sort of lawnmower have you? A flymo or rotary will suck up the seed like a vacuum cleaner, try it carefully on one area first or do it by hand with shears, then rake it clear.

I've got a push mower... specifically this one. Would this mower be ok to go over the new seed?

Also, would i just need to lightly rake it or would the idea be to slightly turn over the topsoil?

Apologies if these are properly basic questions.

That mower is excellent. I would lightly rake off the grass clippings, that will be enough.

@JWK Yea it's a great mower, I've got a friend who works pretty much directly with Husky so I get some pretty sweet deals on their stuff. I never wanted a petrol or electric mower as I was only ever going to have a smallish patch of lawn to maintain.

Such a joy to tend to the lawn with this mower, it's like a hot knife through butter ;)

I might give the lawn another couple of days and then do it on the weekend.
