I have about 20 tomatoe plants in the poly tunnel, and some are now reaching 6ft 5 tall. Would someone enlighten me on wether I just allow them to continue on growing, or do I snip the tops off. If so at what height?

    Many thanks

I stop mine when they have about 7 trusses on them around the height of my greenhouse eaves - maybe 6ft high. It's up to you really, if you have the space and supports you can leave them to get taller, the reason most people 'stop' them (nip out the growing shoot) is that the weather will turn preventing any more fruit ripening in late september or october (depending on your location). You can let them grow taller if you have heating (to extend the season) or want a load of green toms for chutney in the autumn :thumb:

What's a truss? Often read, never understood.
