I have a lovely pair of beige suede shoes which have got sadly grubby with wear. Any ideas for getting the marks off them? I've tried washing and brushing.

I have Erase Away miracle sponges by Oven Pride which I got in Iceland here, 2 for 1,25 Euro, which purportedly clean everything ... no chemicals, no fumes, non toxic, recyclable. They have worked on everything I have tried them on ... fingermarks around light switches and cabinet doors and the back door and screen. Just wet them, squeeze and away you go ... I have used them on shoes but not my suede Hush Puppies ... yet, but I sure would give it a go. Tesco and the like must sell them. Good luck ... I love suede, I have shoes, trousers, a skirt suit and a lightweight jacket and I wouldn't hesitate using these on any of the items.

Do you have a fine (copper wire?) suede shoe brush?

Thanks for the ideas. I wouldn't normally wet suede but they have probably already got wet during wear. they didn' t look very different after washing, anyway and that include d the dirt! They look kind of greasy and stained so I think I've tried the brush treatment as well.
Just has a look on eBay and immediately found the sponges so I think I'll give them a whirl. I have plenty more grubby things they'll be useful for!

I was on holiday in Llanelli in May - must have been fairly near you. Good growing area, I should think.
