I am thinking about bringing some of my outdoor pots in to either keep growing or overwinter but very worried about also importing a bunch of bugs. Anyone got tips on how to get rid of them before pulling the pots indoors?

    many thanks

I usually immerse the pots in water and see what comes out

You're saying all of the bugs abandon ship when you plunge the pot in water?

I really need to get some of that liquid slug killer this year or else it will be the same old old story of there being more slugs in the conservatory that outside in the cold.

Unless there's an aligator in the pot

I won't stick my finger in the pot just in case there are teeth in there!

I grew some geraniums from seed that have a pleasant colour and they are one of the ones I want to overwinter.

            thanks for the heads up

We used the liquid slug and snail lkiller this year and it made a massive difference. We are usually over-run with snails but this year we saw the odd one. I would definitely use it again.

Will let you know in the morning when I go in the garage. There are two types of liquid slug/snail killer - the one for areas where there are only flowers, shrubs etc. the other is good for allotments, raised beds and areas where there are fruit and veg. We used the one for shrubs/ flowers. You mix it with water and it looks like watered down milk. But when it goes onto the soil, from what I understand it kills the slugs/snails and baby snails/slugs under grown. Definitely a good buy and will be using it again.
