A few times I've missed new posts, so if I've ignored anyone, then my apologies.

Here's what I've found out, and its not really a bug with the software, more a 'bug' with how I use it. I guess others might experience the same.

Lets say you have 2 or more alerts related to a particular thread. What I tend to do is click the alert first, and open it in a new tab. I do this for each alert. Then having checked all the alerts, I then hit the 'Watched threads' link, and see all the threads that I'm watching that have new posts on them. Only if some of the new posts were posted BEFORE I went to that thread via an alert, then the forum software thinks I've seen it, so it doesn't show me, so I miss it.

Just one to watch out for I guess.

When the alerts are working correctly, which they aren't at the moment :dunno:, I look at the alert panel but don't open the thread from there. I, then, know which one(s) are alerted - and go to 'Watched Threads' to open the threads in a new tab.

That way the site marks all the new posts. :blue thumb:

At the moment, when I get an alert and I go to look at what it is, it isn't showing what thread has been alerted  - just who has tagged me.

Why use Alerts at all? (I may be missing something? :) )

I just used Watched Threads, and Right-Click + Open in New Tab from there. I figure that Watched Threads has anything that is in Alerts anyway.

Proof, should you need it?!, that I don't use Alerts often :heehee:

I do the reverse to you Kristen, I don't use Watched Threads but do use the Alerts, they also tell me if I've been tagged, so can go straight to the said thread. I don't use 'Tagging' either to contact anyone about a post.
