I have discovered that I have 5 pups developing from one of my banana plants. They are 8-15cm tall. I have heard that if they are under a foot tall I should not separate the pups from the mother plant as they will die.
The issue that I have is as we are fast approaching the middle of winter I do not think they will survive outside.
    Do I
    a) remove the pups and try to keep them alive inside
    b) Leave them outside and try to keep them a live with thermal fleece.

Dont try removing them now, they probably wont make it.

If you are protecting the main plant, the pups will be fine under the same protection.
I use straw kept in place with rigid plastic round sticks driven into the ground.

You could use bubble wrap to contain the straw, but put a bucket or similar on the top so you can let some air in on dry sunny days.
