Some poor lost soul in Brazil had decided he'd had enough. So he took that ultimate decision, to jump from a tall building. Naturally he hesitated.

    Did the coppers:

    A) Try to talk him down
    B) Get a specially trained counsellor to talk him down
    C) Something else.

(Nobody gets hurt and there's nothing gory or anything)

In Britain the cop would probably be done for assault or something. Professional yes, brave, not necessarily as he was tied to a nice strong rope!

I wish the coppers had taken that approach one time a few years ago when I lived in Sheffield. Instead of closing the busiest junction in town for several hours, causing almost city wide grid lock while they talked him down from the footbridge over said junction, causing me and many others to be significantly delayed getting home (I just abandoned my car in the car park that day and walked the whopping 2 and a half miles instead).
