How to store potatoes

    As I am giving up my allotment place I picked all my potatoes yesterday but not sure of the best way to store them.I read somewhere cover them with straw in a box so could someone on here tell me the best way

    Depends on how many you have, but with my limited amounts either paper sacks or cardboard boxes in a frost free shed or garage.
    They need to be dry before putting into storage and only store undamaged ones.

      Cool and dry, hessian bags are best so they get a bit of air but not exposed to light or they go green.

      I've always used potato sacks from the chippy. Request they open by using the stitched string, not a knife around circumference. Always go in before the fryer is hot to ask, arrange to go back several days later and always take some bounty- chard being a currency. Turn sacks inside out to avoid any risk of contamination.
