How to treat this disease

    Photo0030.jpg Photo0032.jpg As you will see from the pics the fruit is going black on the end. This is the second year this has happened, last year we just put it down to the weather being so wet, but cant blame that this year. Any idea what is causing this and how totreat it?

    Hi Nigel

    it looks like a Medlar ? tree

    I think it may be (black rot caused by a fungus called Botryosphaeria obtusa ) do you have "canker" on the tree as well ie on the branches , looks like a dark stain on the wood and may be dead small branches ? dotted all over the tree

    It would need treating with a garden fungicide for the apple problem.
