How to unsubscribe from this site?

• Hi can someone tell me How to unsubscribe from this site? im getting too much junk mail directed from here, so would rather close my account, thanks

 

Its a shame you've decided to leave. To be honest I'm not sure how you delete your account, but you can control the email notifications from your profile page. By default, you get an email every time someone posts to a thread you're listed as being part of. Sometimes that makes for a lot of emails, which is probably what you're seeing.

If you click on the menu link that's your username, then choose 'Preferences', you'll see in there a tick box in the 'options' section that says 'Automatically watch threads that you create or when you reply...'

Under that tick box, indented slightly, is another that says 'and receive email notifications of replies'.

This second tick box is what causes your inbox to flood with email from the site. It is ticked by default. Perhaps it should be switched off by default. If you untick that then scroll to the bottom of the page and hit 'Save', then your email inbox will be yours again.

 

I get loads like this, so I would rather leave the site, its not what I signed up to, I got about 20 today (different names) and these can then pass off my email to others

Ok, that's worrying. That's not at all what I thought you meant. That is not only actual genuine spam, but its worrying that they've got your email and linked it with this site.

I think this is one for the admins to look into.

 

That's weird! I've never gotten any emails like that from being on here. I think I must have all of mine turned off. How long have you been getting them for??

 

I think its fair to say, Dopey, that is not what *any* of us signed up for. No one likes a plethora of unsolicited mail.
I do hope someone can get to the bottom of this for you and you continue to be a member. I think it would be very disappointing if you left as a result of the work of these emails.

PS: Just checked my email and I'm not getting those types of emails.

 

No I didn't think for one moment it was a member, and I immediately knew it was spam, but im getting like 20 a day now, and in fed up with it, been getting them for a month now, but more and more now

 

That is a worry Dopey, i've turned off your e mail notifications from GC, but they shouldn't have been able to access your email address through GC.

Will look into this further.

 

I've done a small amount of digging. I googled Melinda Leary, and the company 'she' is from (euSerp). Check this out:

Dopey, is your PC running any anti malware software? I have a theory as to what's happened. What browser do you use? (Internet Explorer, Chrome, FireFox etc)?
