Alternating between torrential rain, windy hoolies then complete blue calm here in Berkshire. It's still really warm though and doesn't have that autumn 'niff'. Most of the trees and still in the green, only a very few are on the turn on their tips.

    I do love autumn. [IMG]

We're a bit further north still - and it's been improving all day. Started off dull and wet, sun started to appear late morning and the afternoon was nice, sunny and warm, and is still looking pretty good.

Damp first thing but as the day went on sun came out.For the 1st Oct really good, took the chance to take in all my fuchsias that were in my greenhouse now indoors to my conservatory that gets heated in winter.

I normally bury all my fuchsias in a trench in my unheated greenhouse and cover with fleece.

Have done this method for years and have been happy, but last yr lost all my fuchsias as it was very cold .

Try to prevent this yr and keep indoors.Shall spray lightly with tepid water.

Here is my standard fuchsia grown from a tip cutting now in her 2nd yr.

Hope I can overwinter her again.kept it in my conservatory last yr.

Her name is charming and charming she is.

I entered her in our local fuchsia club show before in August got third place.

Last yr never got a place.

Just so pleased I got third its the taking part and beeing noticed is fun.

Called in to Tesco's yesterday afternoon, not far off closing time and as we were about to go outside we had a torrential downpour.Lots of us stood under the walkways to shelter from it.The gutters couldn't hold the amount of water that was coming off the sloping roofs,so it was cascading over the top,so it looked like we were all standing under waterfalls.Wish I had taken the digi. The only problem was more shoppers were leaving the shop as it was closing,so were all being pushed into the carpark.Apart from that it was a good day :D :D

It was lovely Saturday, even managed to get the roof off the car, probably last time this year. Stupidly, forgot to put it back on, rained though the night and cloth car seats were soaked through. It wasn't bad again yesterday so took roof off, vaxed off as much water as I could, but it's still pretty damp! I'm having to go to work sat on a towel and a black bin bag. Goodness knows what people will think! Middle aged women with a problem probably. There's a valet in town that cleans taxi cars so I'm hoping he'll have some superdedooper machine that will will be able to get most of the moisture out of the seats ... unless someone on here can think of something else!! I'm worried the car is going to stink too, so covered it in fabreeze. Any ideas????

We did that once, and only once, many years ago, Sheppy with my old Austin Healey Sprite! We didn't have a Vax then so I think we just had to let it dry out on it's own. I remember the floor mats draped all over the walls!

And yes, it stunk for a long time and I don't they Febreeze was out in those days (late 70s).

    Good luck!

how about that stuff you get to use when there's lots of condensation in your house? Can't remember what it's called, but I'll have a little look....

I don't believe it! Someone with exactly the same problem solved it by putting baskets of cat-litter in the car!! Says it's cheaper than the anti-condensation crystals!! Guess you'd better not let any cats in though!

Wouldn't fit a dehumidifier in the car! Cat litter? Worth a try. The back seats are bucket style so still really soaking where the rain must have ran down. Did take car to valet, guy said to put on heaters in car and leave window slightly open. Even gave me a proper seat cover to drive home with instead of my towel and black bag! Amazed he didn't rip me off with a thirty quid valet! Still some good people around. Will let you know if the cat litter works! Least I'll never make that mistake again, bet you didn't either L.O.L!!

Anti condensation crystals? Cat litter? Would that solve the mould problem in my wardrobes and drawers?
