    Had a visit from a hummingbird moth today, well chuffed, just didn't quite get enough time to get setup to get a quality video but got a quick bit. It was on the red valerian this time.

      Nice....only ever seen one and that was on Cemlyn Bay Beach, lovely little thing.

          I've only seen one once also and that was a few years ago, I'm not sure if they are more prevalent in certain parts of the country.

            I've seen them occasionally and I'm never quick enough with my phone to take a photo. The first time I was convinced it was an actual bird, think they are summer migrants blown in from the Mediterranean.

              This has to be the most amazing coincidence, just doing some watering on the allotment where I have a patch of sweet William and Valerian and guess what.

                  @pete awesome, we could be responsible for a surge in red valerian sales:heehee: I remember reading an article about 5 years ago saying they may start to overwinter here in a few years time.
