Will be quite large this year I think in some ways.

We still have plenty of prepared and frozen potato products and nearly a sack of fresh stored, so we should be ok with that.

On the plot, the Cavolo de nero is really slow growing at the moment..so I dont think we will get much from that. Still a 3 or 4 Red cabbage to harvest and eat and a couple of spring cabbage for a little later, apart from a few pounds of onions in storage thats about it.

I did not have time to get any winter leaves in so none of that to fall back on either. Looks like I'll have to get some early crops going in the polytunnel this year, chard, stump carrots, beans and leaves.

    Any other suggestions?

    Steve...:)

Mr Sprouts are tiny, not going to get much off them relative to other years. Didn't plant any Chard in the greenhouse this year (ran out of time August-ish) :(

Sprouting Broccoli plants look tiny still ... :(

Asparagus perhaps? First light-crop season was last year. I put in about 60 plants I think ... so I reckon we'll be having a decadent hungry gap!

"sow" as in "from pips"? Or was that article implying "Plant" do you think?

I don't think a Discovery apple will come true from seed/pips (and even if does it probably needs grafting onto a suitable rootstock, sadly)

My Kale and Purple Sprouting just didn't make enough growth last autumn so they are fairly small plants, no pickings yet, then slugs have been eating a lot of my Spring Greens encouraged by the recent mild wet weather.

            OK, makes sense :)

Not sure why they chose "Discovery" though ... presumably applies to any Apple.

I wanted to plant some Apple trees before Christmas, but I still haven't got the posts in (for the Espalier wires) ... but your reminder to get my skates on is timely, thanks :)

Harvested all our sprouts before Christmas, blanched and froze some...nice and small/sweet. I'd forgotten about them..and also the cauliflower we have frozen too.

Plenty of kale and parsnips but that's about it. Had a stir fry the other day and my beloved said 'Where did that green stuff come from?' I asked if she'd seen the large amount of green things in the veg plot
