We moved here nearly a year ago and the garden was overgrown with brambles which we have now mostly cleared. Hidden under some brambles we found a small tree/tall shrub (9 feet high) which flowered in April this year. The leaves are similar to a hydrangea but not as leathery and the flowers looked like a white lacecap. Any suggestions as to what it could be as I can't find any hydrangea that flowers in April?

I've found out what the tree is, it's a viburnum plicatum or Japanese snowberry. It's an impressive plant when in flower I can recommend it.

That's a lovely bush, I bought a little one earlier this year. Didn't see the post before!
