    WHEN AND HOW DO I PRUNE HYPERICUM "HIDCOTE" I CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING IN MY GARDENING BOOKS. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ASSISTANCE.

    H. Hidcote is a hybrid between H, calcynum an H. patulum. Pruning is normally carried out in March when you may cut to within six inches of the base or less severely if you wish. If it is a wall grown shrub then about now you should cut back all new growth to one bud from its origin and remove altogether any branches going in the wrong direction.
