I found this site via Google as I was seeking advice on Astrantia " Venice". A gardening freind gave me a young rooted plant last year. I put it in the front garden which has a shady moist afternoon spot and my next door neighbour grows this in roughly the same place. I was assured to find comment that says it is not likely to be showing yet. It's only 11th March. ! Feel less anxious now,

Hi Jenny, welcome to Gardeners Corner:thumbsup::biggrin: I wouldn't get too anxious just yet as to whether your Astrantia has come through the Winter. I've got several forms of it on a side border beneath a Lilac and on this mornings saunter around the garden I could see that mine weren't showing just yet even with this mild weather Give it another couple of weeks or so:biggrin:

Have you ever visited the Butchart Gardens, Vancouver Island? I went there with my husband and friends that we were staying with last June. Very, very impressed. What I envy about Vancouver's Spring/Summer climate is the gentle soft rain and the lack of destructive gales. Was awestruck by everyones' hanging baskets. Begonias to die for.
