Maybe only one was stolen because the thief was disturbed before they could nick the other one. If they both go expect to get speeding camera fines, congestion charges, parking fines and visits from the police about driving off without paying for fuel at filling stations, etc.

I expect to see number plate thefts soar when the tax disc is abolished with crims cloning legit motors by swopping their plates with ones stolen from identical colour/model taxed and insured vehicles because any amount of ANPR cameras wont catch them and police on foot patrol would have to check the chassis number to spot it was dodgy.

Report the theft of that plate to the police ASAP and investigate anti-theft measures for your plates.

      What a nuisance!

Could it have fallen off? Some number plates are stuck on with double sided sticky these days.

Definitely report it asap to give yourself protection if you do get speeding fines etc that you haven't clocked up. Hope you won't though.

Just one plate may not seem useable for dodgy activities, but I've seen somebody do exactly that for some time, but the vehicle was kept off road and the police would've had to catch it being used on the highway to do anything about it (unless perhaps prove conspiracy?).

Cops came round this afternoon to see if there was any damage to the car, which there isn't, and they think that is hasn't been stolen but it has fallen off?????? Is that possible. Only held on with 2 self tapping screws at the top of the plate. The cop said he reckoned that Toyota should give me another plate F.O.C. for doing such a shoddy job!! :dunno:
