The border's finished!! :D 50 odd ft x 7ft. Rock hard soil, lumps of granite, heavy edgings in place, planted and looking, if I may so myself, really good :D Ok, it's not a patch on most of your gardens, but I've done it!! All by myself (well, Stella helped a little bit;she likes to play with slug pellets!)
Really chuffed and with a huge sense of achievement! Planning the rest of the garden now.
Thanks to all who gave me advice, I really couldn't have done it without you. I'd like to thank my parents; God; Stella,my manager;my agent.... :D :D

My mum took some but they're not very good. To be honest, after seeing your gardens I'm a bit embarrassed to parade my little efforts [IMG] Maybe when it's grown a bit....

I agree totally! Not all of us are paragons of virtue with weed and pest free gardens. I always love to see what others are doing! My new border was started ages ago, then it got weedkillered, then it was too hot, then I was too lazy, then... well, it's still not finished so well done. I've still got some edging bricks out on the pavement waitng for another rare burst of energy, hopefully before the neighbourhood watch is called in.... :D :D :D

windy mate, took me 8 years to get it right, and I have only had grass for the last 3 months! I have finished mine about 3 times and ripped it all up again becasue I wasn't happy with the design. Never be embarrased about showing your garden off, people on hear are nice and appreciate the effort that goes in to digging and preperation which might not come accross on a photograph. Totally agree - my garden is two years down the line and is more overgrown than ever. I'm doing construction work more than weeding at the moment, and it is certainly showing! :(

BUT it doesn't mean I'm not proud of what I HAVE done - so let's have a look! :D

I dont think a garden is ever finished, if it is, then you've lost interest.
I've been at the same place for years and parts of it still look like a tip, but its my tip. :D

If you think you've got a garden perfect, it's time you moved - IMHO!!! So I don't think I'll ever be moving again!

    Thanks all,
Will try and post some pics and then you can see my humble beginnings. I now have big plans for the rest of my plot, so hopefully it won't be long before it's looking loads better.
    Cheers :D
