As the title says I’m no gardener.

I’m doing a self build and will have to landscape and plant a lot of garden.

I thought this would be a good resource, and a place to ask questions.

I just built a 1.5m thick, 4m x 13m retaining wall with stepped sides. I’ve created sloped banks either side with some of the excavated ground.

The ground type is glacial mudstone and the area will be shaded.

Any suggestions for plants that are hardy and would help stabilise the soil would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

:sign0016: to GC. That glacial mudstone sounds a bit of a challenge! Vinca minor is a super ground cover and bank stabiliser. There are blue, purple and white-flowered varieties, some of which have variegated leaves too.
