I don't normally leave my pup with toys unsupervised, but tonight I fell asleep in my chair , and when I awoke, my Cav had demolished a hollow soft rubber ball. From the pieces picked up, he's eaten half of it. Hopefully it will pass through all right - but needless to say I am a tad concerned.

Keep you fingers crossed for me please.

hi fran, oh dear do hope your pup is ok, rosa got into everything when she was little, nearly killed herself, just chewed into a live extention lead, so thats when i decided to get her a large trainer cage, it was a god send and its her bed in the bedroom.
mind she hasnt chewed any of her toys, balls etc as i give her chewy sticks and she loves those dried tripe sticks and pig ears.
anyway lets hope your little one passes the bits ok, you can always give your vet a quick ring and see what they say. good luck

What a worry Fran :( These things happen so easily. I would call the vet as Rosa says just to see if theres anything they can give the pup to aid a swift passage through  Will be thinking of you and pup - let us know how it goesxx

Thanks for all the good wishes - they must have worked, cos when I got downstairs this morning, there were fragments of the rubber all over the floor. My guess is he was sick - and thank goodness did not reingest. He's been fine all day, and no sign of any passing through - so I reckon that that was it. But for that - the vet would have been contacted. Fingers crossed thats the lot.

    Thanks again.

Good news Fran! I remember well when one of mine ate his way through a box of wax crayons at about 5 months old! No doubt which one of the 2 dogs had left the multi-coloured 'pressy' by back door the following morning ;)

And then there was the jumbo-sized tub of zinc and castor oil cream, eaten by Topsy - with no signs of any digestive upset whatsoever..... Dogs will do these things! So glad your cav is ok, Fran.

So far so good -he passed another load of fragments tonight and he still seems well, and ate a full meal. So I don't think there can be much left. Will be watching him carefully for the next couple of days.

Dogs, kids,- I would wish they did not try to eat everything they can get into their mouths <sigh>.

When "Jake" my older Springer was younger, took very ill indeed, visit to the vet confirmed my suspicions as to that he'd swallowed something.
Immediate surgery was done revealing part of a rubber toy trapped in his bowels.
Worked out highly dangerous & very expensive toy that one.

What do you think of a dog puppy which eats tomatoes?

Gogs I hope your dog was ok afterwards.

My cav has passed no more fragments, and appears fine - so maybe I will relax, cos if something had got stuck, I should have had symptoms by now.

    Who'd have pets :D :D
