OK. I recommend that you sow a Supersweet variety, specifically bred for the UK. They grow much shorter than old fashioned Sweetcorn (so about 5' rather than 7' or more) and this means that they start making Cobs "younger" than the old ones used to, as it took them longer to grow.

Only grow ONE variety. They can taste funny if they cross-pollinate. If you neighbour is growing some then try to plant the same variety (or see if they have seed spare).

The Supersweet varieties taste FANTASTIC! One of THE best vegetables to grow IMO as you cannot buy a Sweetcorn cob that tastes as good in the shops (as soon is it is picked the Sugar starts turning to Starch). Make sure you cook it immediately after picking it.

You need to plant them in a block, not a row. About 9 plants is the minimum ... maybe you would get away with 6, but you'll likely only get one cob per plant, so 6 plants isn't many meals for many people :) although you might make do with half a cob each.

Sorry, sown all mine, so none spare this year. You need to be sowing it soon though ...

@ARMANDII has some Sunflower seed for you in another thread.
