I am trying to grow an off-shoot of an old apple tree that grew in my parents garden. I am sure my Mum said it was called a ........ Jack but cannot find an apple tree with a name ending in Jack apart from Black Jack and I know it wasn't that. Can anybody help? Thanks. Julia

    Hiya Julia

Well I can't even find Black Jack, but you find a very comprehensive list HERE but non of them end in Jack. Perhaps the names may refresh your memory.

I shall hand your problem over the Apple tree experts, to see what they come back with.

    Best of luck.

Just found another link which may help. HERE

    Hi Julia

    Welcome to GC :thumb: :)

I don't know the answer to your question but if no one else can help (you need to put the question on the 'Tree' section on here if you haven't already done so) you may be able to get the answer from what used to be the famous 'Rivers Nursery'. Here is a link to the website

    http://www.riversnurseryorchard.org.uk/

If they say that you should bring some leaves to them then you are less than a half hour's drive from there.

    Good luck :)

Hello & welcome Julia. I don't know much about apple trees, but I know the RHS at Wisley will identify apple varieties if you take it along the fruit, that will not help you much as you won't have any fruit for a few years I guess, but they do have some knowledgebale staff there, so if you were there looking around the garden you could just try their information desk and pick their brains.

    Hi Julia!

Hope you get to the bottom of your apple query.

Welcome to GC and have fun - there is a great tree section on here and lots of 'knowing' brains to help out with these things!
