Hi Rosa,Cracking shots but it looks like a White Tailed Sea Eagle though I may be wrong.Lucky you to see one.We have had to go all the way to the Isle Of Mull to see one. They are called flying barn doors because of their large wingspan  [IMG]

hi kandy, i honestly thought it was a golden eagle a guy on the beach said it was, it was some size bird and as you said a good size wingspan.
Its the first time i have ever seen one these past 5 years that i have been going to goa.
maybe someone else can put us to right and tel us what it is

Hi Rosa,The Golden Eagle doesn't have a white head.failing that it could be a Bald Eagle but never having holidays abroad don't know what the range of the Bald Eagle is.It could just be an American and Canadian bird of prey [IMG]

[IMG] Hi rosa, it is not a Golden eagle or a Bald eagle.. It looks more like an adult "Pallas's Fish eagle" to me... You were in the right sort of area for it as well.. If you click on this link there is a video clip on the right of the page. If you play it you can hear it's cry.. OK I know this one isn't flying but should give you an idea..

Pretty certain it isn't an African Fish eagle...
[IMG] Of course I might be wrong!! :D

marley, I have looked at that pallas fish eagle in flight and this one i took is nothing like it,it hasnt got the white colouring down its wings look at my last pic, it has a white head more like the bald eagle and its colour as it flew over my head was a striking tan/orange colour. The pic you cant see the eaxact colour but look at the first pic i took.I know it a bit blurry but that is the colour i saw.

[IMG] ~It was just gliding on the thermals. They can saw around for ages without beating their wings sometimes. Fantastic to see.. The thermals will probably have given the circle effect because of the sea & sand meeting... [IMG]
