I thought i planted Primrose but this looks like Cowslip and Primrose in the same plant
The flowers are much bigger than a Cowslip but a little smaller than a Primrose DSCF3740.JPG

It gets complicated as they are all members of the Primula family and we have found that they are quite promiscuous. Cowslips are Primula veris and Primroses are Primula vulgaris but as we have so many of them around the garden we seem to get a lot of types inbetween.

Yours are more of the Cowslip type than any of the other mixes.

I think that when they crossbreed the official name is P. vulgaris x P. veris = P. x polyantha  :noidea:

We have well over 1,000 in the garden and they are all colours and sizes. Our wild area must have well over the 1,000 on its own and is 3,000sq ft (I think) and we have loads through all our beds as well.

This is part of our wild area

In that case they are not Primula vulgaris...common name Primrose but something else.
          eg Polyanthus./ or P. vulgaris x P. veris = P. x polyantha
Primroses have one stalk one flower. see pics below.
