Visited Aunt Rosie (86yrs ) in Reading yesterday and had a stroll around her back garden. Very friable, ID please 15 August 2012 001.JPG gravelly soil that drains a bit too easily for my liking. But I loved this and she gave me permission to dig up a pink one and a trowel full of purple seedlings as well. I have potted them all up ( had got rather floppy in the carboot overnight) in JI No.2 mixed with grit. It is a drop dead gorgeous shade of pink,it's delicate and "cottagey" so I should be able to find a few places to tuck them in. Please can anyone tell me what it is?

Thank you so much for your prompt ID response Silver surfer. Then I have one plant of the pink and about six of the purple. I have crushed an unripe seed pod of the pink one and can see about 6 seeds inside. How best to propogate please? From seeds and when - or from cuttings ?

Always glad to help. Especially on a disgusting, foul, wet day.
There is bound to be flooding again in places, with this sort of downpour.
    Summer? Hmm!
    Definitely global weirding.(Horizon TV program)

Once you have it nature will do the rest. It will seed where it wants to go.
I have never tried cuttings. Dig up baby plants and move where you want.
Pink flowered plants may not come true from seed.. You will find most are purple.
It is often asked about on forums, especialy when it just arrives in a garden all by itself!
Love it, you can never have too much.
But very easily weeded out ....should you feel it is taking over!

It is a lovely plant, the one in the front of one of my borders grew so tall (nearly five feet) I decided to move it and was really suprised how easily it came up. I had to cut it back afterwards and it's already sprouting new growth. The bees love it!
