    This looks really good around the border of the field opposite and I don't remember seeing it before. It looks as though it has been deliberately sown.

    @shiney looks like Phacelia tanacetifolia. I've used it as a green manure, bees etc love it, smells quite nice as well; self seeds to an extent so I generally have a plant or two for the insects.

        You often get it in packs of mixed 'wild flower' seeds.

          As Nigel says often used as a green manure, but only really usable during summer, who has spare ground over the summer months. :smile:

            Here in Devon I find it often comes through winter unscathed.

              It could do here, probably, in a winter like the last one, but a lot of the info is still based on 30 yrs ago and suggests its a green manure for summer growing.
              I've been using grazing rye for overwintering and it does a good job of breaking up clay.

                Some of them, where they are now covering the official footpath, will be cut this evening to go in the table arrangement for a wedding tomorrow. It seems a pity to have them trampled down when they can be admired up close.
